The Thornbury Ladies are always ready to welcome new members of all abilities from those new to golf looking to get their first handicap through to experienced, low handicap players. Our Ladies’ day is Monday, but we have some Ladies playing on Sundays as well.

We play monthly qualifying Stablefords throughout the year (the scores for the Monday and Sunday games are aggregated for these competitions) and monthly Medals from March to October. On other Mondays we meet for informal competitions  although in the summer months we often have County or External Competitions instead, or one of our Trophy competitions.

We play Friendly matches against other local Clubs during the year and encourage the widest possible range of players to participate in these matches. We also have two Bristol and District Alliance teams, made up of our lowest handicapped player. Both Alliance teams play 12 scheduled matches a year.

Each season, we run a number of knock-out competitions for individuals, ladies pairs and mixed pairs. Ladies also take part in the principal Club competitions, such as the Burhill Bowl, Captains’ Day, our Charity Day and the two day Club Championship.

On the social side we have a midsummer Ladies Away Day and an Away Weekend in early autumn, as well as two Dinners each year, a Christmas lunch and other purely social events. We join with the men’s and seniors’ sections for some informal competitions and for an annual Club Mixed Away day.

The Ladies Section organises 4 Open Competitions during the year and details of these (and others) are available from this website.

May - Senior Ladies open (+55)
June – Mixed Open
July – Ladies open Team Event
October – 9-hole Coffee Morning

Ladies Christmas Dinner

The Christmas Dinner, held on 14th December after a 9 hole 1-2-3 competition, was a great success. The playing outfits were brilliant, especially the teams of three very bearded Santas, and of Rudolf, Dancer and Prancer. The dining bling was fantastic, everyone looked amazing but the winner Kay Everton was a vision to behold!
The 1-2-3 competition results were 1st HelenGould, Di Geraghty, Judith England 37pts, 2nd Marilyn Savage, Roz Belsten, Lesley Allen 35pts, 3rd Judy Neves, Pru Taylor, Gill Brooks 34pts, 4th Ruth Hughes, Tracy Jones, Annie Griffin  33pts.
