The Men’s Section is open to all male members of Thornbury Golf Centre including juniors and we welcome participation in our numerous golf competitions. The Section run at least two Medal or Stableford weekend qualifying competitions during British Summertime, plus midweek qualifying competitors on alternate Wednesdays. Our midweek Competitions are open to lady members. We also run non-qualifying Stableford Competitions throughout the winter months. Some of the competitions are ‘boarded’ and the premier Club Competition – the Club Championship, is a 36-hole Medal run over a weekend in mid-June.

The Men’s Section also competes in competitive team golf and has Three teams in the Bristol & District Scratch Foursomes League. The B&D first team have enjoyed continued success with promotion in 2013 and again in 2014. We also compete in the Gloucestershire Golf Union Presidents Cup and Daily Mail & Mail on Sunday matchplay competitions.

In addition, the Section runs singles and pairs matchplay Knock-out competitions during the summer and winter as well as several informal social & mixed competitions and our long established ‘Sunday Club’ where both members and non-members of all ages and abilities are welcome to play in an informal but competitive atmosphere.

In the 2017 season the men's section will be running a free to enter Eclectic competition.

A typical Surrey rolling parkland course. The Old Course is not overly long by today's standards at 6479 yards, it is nonetheless a thoroughly enjoyable track.  The smooth greens are extremely quick and have some treacherous borrows which often deceive even the low handicap golfer. Opened in 1907, it has retained its charm with some of the original features blending well with recent course changes, which have ensured today's longer hitters are still well tested. And the other, - THE NEW COURSE

And the other, - THE NEW COURSE

This remarkable championship course opened in 2001. Its large, fast greens are well protected by strategic bunkering, not to mention a number of water hazards including the River Mole which meanders through the course. At just under 7000 yards from the back tees, it doesn't lack for length. The par 3 18th is the feature hole - played over the River Molein front of the beautiful clubhouse is the feature hole that can jangle the nerves of the most experienced of golfers.
